Those before them also had rejected, and then the punishment came upon them in a way they didn’t perceive.
In every period, 999 people in each thousand among the people of all Messengers were rejecting Adhikr—the Truth—and they were living preferring the bodily and worldly life over the Soul and the Hereafter. They had not the aim of life that the fourth phase of their life is to prepare Paradise to inherit it in the seventh phase in the Hereafter. Thus, they became wrongdoers and transgressors, as told in verses 6: 47 and 46: 35, and they were destroyed in a way that they didn’t perceive.
The believer who utilizes Adhikr as the Ticket to return to Paradise will only enter Paradise. As explained in verse 2: 62, the community of the Last Messenger Muhammed, such as Jains, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, and Christians, if they believe in the Oneness of the Lord and the Day of Judgment and do righteous deeds, they have their reward with their Lord, there shall be no fear upon them, and for them will not be grieved. See explanation 6: 26; 37: 69; 39: 55-59.
